Minecraft has evolved, but many players wish they could revisit past updates. Java Edition allows version switching, letting players experience different eras of the game, but Bedrock players are stuck with the latest version. Adding version selection to all Bedrock platforms (console, mobile, Windows, etc.) would give players the freedom to enjoy their favorite updates, create unique worlds, and relive nostalgic moments. This would also enhance storytelling, allowing players to craft experiences tied to specific updates and mechanics.
As a bonus, you could allow players to switch to older editions like Legacy Console Edition (on supported consoles), pre-Bedrock Pocket Edition, and more. Players could even choose to play new updates in those versions—imagine experiencing the Tricky Trials update in Legacy Console Edition or a modernized version of early Pocket Edition.
Very few games offer a feature like this, and adding it would put Minecraft ahead of the competition. No matter how far and wide you look—even on the Minecraft Feedback page itself—players are constantly requesting features like this. This is something the community truly wants. It would bring back old players, boost creativity, and create new revenue opportunities. Many players would gladly pay to access nostalgic versions or enhanced adaptations of past editions.
This would be a game-changing addition, preserving Minecraft’s history while making it more profitable for Mojang and Microsoft.
