Reinforcing tools with copper ingots

Copper ingots could be used to give tools more durability, for example 20% more uses.
By placing a tool (for example a pickaxe) on a smithing table along with a copper ingot, the tool is strengthened, as if you put a copper handle on it.
It could be used with all tools and swords, so we wouldn't have to craft as many tools in the early game and it gives more value to the copper.
