Seasons.

In settings, there should be a setting that basically turns off cold and warm biomes, and turns on a setting called seasons and every Minecraft month changes to the next season. You would still be able to find like, for example, spruce and jungle and Savannah trees, but it would snow during winter, there would only be leaf litter during the autumn, and in spring and summer there would be lots of flowers that would grow.
