Why are Villagers not protected?

I suggest adding a display and a function for selecting armor and weapons for villagers so that they can defend themselves, and a golem modification, because if a lot of zombies attack the village, even a golem won't save them, and it will only be useful in iron.

    Don’t let them die. Also, Villagers don’t fight. However, placing them in a block cage where they only have one block of room lets you put a dispenser next to their head. The dispenser can then equip armor onto them, although you can’t actually see the armor, but it still protects them. Also, if they’re wearing Thorns armor, the mob that attacked them receives three times the damage it dealt the Villager, and that’s just on Thorns I.
