Shearing crops for more terraforming/gardening options

It would be nice if we could use shears on crops, like carrots and wheat to obtain the plant itself instead of the produce.  Then we could place it in dirt, grass and other blocks that can have flowers.  Those crops shouldn't grow in that situation.  This would be useful to make "wild fields" or to add colours to places.

It wouldn't be adding any blocks or tools, just increase the versatility of existing ones.
