I believe Minecraft could improve the mechanics of beacons as follows:

Custom effects with potions:
Instead of limiting beacons to default effects, allow players to activate beacons using effects from lingering potions. -
Beacon ranking system:
To balance this new system, I suggest creating 20 ranking levels for beacons, depending on the material and size, such as: - Iron: Levels 1, 2, 3, 4
- Gold: Levels 1, 2, 3, 4
- Diamond: Levels 1, 2, 3, 4
- Emerald: Levels 1, 2, 3, 4
- Netherite: Levels 1, 2, 3, 4
The higher the beacon's rank, the more lingering potion effects can be added.

Change in effect range:
The range of the beacon's effect would no longer depend on the base size but on the ore used to activate it.
