As the amount of data and resource pack functionality grows with each new Minecraft: Java Edition update, it becomes clear that official documentation is needed to allow creators to make the most of those new additions.
Currently, snapshot changelogs are the only official source of technical documentation regarding data pack and resource pack features, with Java Edition tech lead slicedlime also providing video versions of said changelogs, allowing for aforementioned features to be visually demonstrated.
Unfortunately, this is far from convenient from the perspective of a pack creator. Since there is no centralized documentation, finding information regarding a particular feature requires to know exactly which snapshot it was introduced in, or to comb through an ever-growing list of blog posts.
I believe a centralized source of documentation, similar to the one available for Bedrock Edition would make it a lot easier to make use of the great features the Java Edition team are adding to the game in order to make it even easier to customize!
