If you all are considering fireflies again please don't make them two pixels. It would really mess with the scale of other in game arthropods and make them feel very out of place. Making them the size of bees would be perfect and would allow them to exist without ruining the games already established style and mob proportions.
And in terms of frogs eating them, frogs that eat them could be given lethal poison, and/or another flying swamp mob could be added to fill that role. I think dragonflies would also work super well if you wanted to have frogs in game prey that adds ambience without them being poisonous.
