Most foods are objectively worse than steak or golden carrots so they're not used by many players.
Cookies have low value and more involved crafting, they should be eaten while moving, making them useful for dodging.
Kelp, sweet/glow berries and melon have low value so should take 25% the time it currently takes to eat them, making them useful for running away from things and combat.
Baked potatoes have the same stats as bread, are just as difficult to automate, harder to get early game and have to be cooked. They should be eaten at 50% of the current speed.
Bread is a good early game from villages, can be stored in large amounts via hay bales, but is hard to automate and has low value, rabbit has less nourishment and saturation compared to other meats, porkchops are the only drop from pigs so it's better to farm other animals, these should be eaten at 75% of their current speed.
Rabbit stew doesn't stack, needs a crafting table, is the most complicated food item and restores less hunger and saturation than eating each ingredient on its own. It needs to restores at least 16 hunger points.
Pumpkin pie is slightly better than bread but has three different ingredients. It is easy to automate, but its saturation should be increased to make it a viable choice.
You should be able to cook tropical fish and beetroot. Breeding pigs with beetroot should produce 2 baby pigs. Beetroot soup should be made with 3 beetroots.
Other foods not listed already get used or have unique mechanics/benefits.
