i may not do a lot of minecraft parkour, but this change feels the same as if roblox were to change its physics engine completely (it nearly happened once) and destroying thousands of unique obbies and obbying mechanics that were made and discovered by communities involved, accumulated for years in the process... mojang, please don't.

I can understand Mojang's want for parity, but why must they chose the worst out of the two options? While it is slower on Bedrock, Java has clearly established that this movement is greatly beneficial and plays a large role in parkour and movement communities.

Therefore, why can't Bedrock have their movement increased instead?

This would achieve parity between the two versions and provide the bedrock player base with the benefits that the current installation of Java movement provides.

"Patching" this "bug" solves little, and only acts to create large problems that the current userbase has to deal with, as discussed largely in other comments. Therefore, Mojang should either change nothing, or instead change Bedrock.

Mojang, we don't need 1.22 to be like 1.9. Just don't patch a decade old bug. Not all bugs are meant to be patched. Minecraft just isn't that fun anymore without those fun mechanics. And when there's a really old bug that everyone uses and it's not like a dupe, it's completely OK to leave it in as a feature, especially if it's fun, which these ones are. Please. I rely on this petition to keep playing Minecraft. Otherwise I'll never open a 1.22+ version in my life!

well fortnite will not seem that bad after all if this doesn't get through directly to mojang's brain AI thingy

Mojang: Guys, let's nerf Java so it has bedrock parity!

Community: Couldn't you just, like, make bedrock movement the same as Java? Instead of removing a mechanic.

    Mojang: ...

    Community: ...

Mojang: Do you think i ever listen to you?

I dont agree with this change at all. 45 degree angle strafe was so cool. and if this nerf stays in minecraft. I'm going to stick to 1.21. Also i hope Mojang reverts jumping off of 2 blocks takes fall damage. this snapshot is terrible

Literally had to reset my microsoft password and I still did just because this is THAT important to me. I like, never get involved in this kinda stuff and even I know this change was bad for the game's future.

It makes sense youre faster in the diagonals since you need to travel further to go the same about of blocks

great idea! now add a short delay before you start accelerating when falling so people stop jumping around everywhere/SARCASM

in all seriousness one of the things i love about minecraft is the way that its developed its own organic body language over the past 15 ish years. i didn't know about this yesterday but there is no benefit to removing it and it has both tangible (as pointed out by others) and just plain annoying side effects

Agreed. I use 1.8.9 forge. Just because of these changes. like PvP update. 45 Strafe patch, PvP Strafe patch. and I like the servers. It's much better than 1.9+ or any other 1.9+ server there is. Mr.Beast should shout this post out so it blows up. so if your reading and you know mrbeasts contact. tell him this :D

I think once something has been in the game for like a decade, and is openly a used feature of the mechanics to the point where people will tell you that the game works that way, and actively plan to use the feature... Than it isn't a bug. That's just how the game mechanic works. It's a feature. It makes sense to remove the extra speed diagonally in SOME games, but there really is no reason to do that for Minecraft. Especially after having it be this way for so long. This is just pointless work to change something no one wanted changed. You just nerfed every single player's movement in the entire player base.

I've been playing Minecraft for 6-7 years, and I hate to see Mojang making the game worse instead of better. I would love to see Mojang listen to the players and not make the decisions themselves. I don't want this game to die because of the creators' bad choices.

This is no way they're removing this. This is a feature minecraft, keep it one.

Apperently this bug was fixed for "parity with bedrock". This update nerfs bridging with 2 keys ( S +A or S + D) while being crouched or speed bridging which is tapping crouch rhythmically. Bedrock players don't even need to bridge anyways because they can just place blocks where they look at. Why nerf java where people actually need to bridge looking at a block??? Why not give bedrock diagonal speed and make everyone happy?

Or if you care about "parity" so much, give java block placement mechanic like bedrock or take it away from bedrock so they have to bridge like java?

"For parity reasons, we are fixing this decade old small bug, that WILL ANGER EVERYONEE! YAAAAY! But oh no! There is this HUGE difference between two versions, yeah, thats gonna stay like that. :< SUCK IT JAVA!"
