Bells

When building a bell tower in Minecraft and tried playing the bells using a button at the bottom of the bell tower, I couldn't hear it. I tried searching up how to make the bells louder or how to increase their radius, but nothing seemed to help. I hope that there could be a way to adjust the maximum and or minimum distance that the bells can be heard from. I also hope that if it is incorporated with the game, it would be given realistic sound affects, as in if you set the maximum for say, 2000 blocks, as you get closer to 200 blocks away the bells sound will start to fade just like a real bell.
