Hi Mojang! It seems that "How did we get here" has become progressively harder over time, and perhaps more so than originally intended.
This has historically been a fun challenge for players to work towards, but does it *really* improve the experience to have to bring an elder guardian, shulker, and dolphin to the deep dark?
My proposed solution is that if player-placed shriekers were to inflict darkness, this would remove the locational constraint. It might also improve forward-compatibility, where other future biomes might have unique statuses. It could also add to player creativity: players could incorporate the darkness effect into their builds or minigames, or maybe even find a use in PVP.
I understand that shriekers were a couple of updates ago, and I hope I've categorised this submission right. Thank you for reading this suggestion!
