I have always wanted a horizontal beacon beam to build lasers for doors and blocking off an area. the beam could be reflected by a reflector block that can be crafted with amethyst Cristals, glass, copper (so that copper is more useful) and redstone dust. You could change the settings of the reflector to chose in which direction the beam should be reflected you could make its settings change by themselves by powering the reflector with a redstone signal to create a spinning beam for lighthouses and for a new minigame on servers with a spinning beam that you have to jump over if not you lose a point. But if the beam is horizontal than it would always (unless you are in the sky) hit a block and the beam would be super long going sideways but to fix that you could chose how long the beam should be by powering it with redstone (like the calibrated sculc sensor) for example if the redstone signal level is 1 then the beam is 1 block long and if the redstone signal level is 2 the beam is 2 blocks long etc.
if you want a longer beam there could be some sort of block/item that increases the beams range.
