Dear Minecraft Development Team, I am a Minecraft modding enthusiast, developer, and community member.
I am writing to request that you consider reinstating the PDB files and ELF symbols (Andoid) for Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Why is this important?
The PDB files and ELF symbols hold significant value for the modding community and game researchers:
- Enhanced Modding Potential: The absence of these files makes it harder to understand the internal workings of the game, limiting the creation of high-quality modifications.
- Improved Debugging: PDB files simplify the process of identifying and resolving issues for enthusiasts developing extensions or tools for the game.
- Community Growth: Greater openness would attract more developers, enabling them to create new mods, tools, and services that enhance user experiences.
Suggestion
If fully reinstating PDB and ELF data is not feasible, I propose the following:
- Provide a separate version of the files for testing or development, accessible through an official channel.
- Consider offering limited access to these files for modding developers upon request.
Minecraft has always been loved for its creativity and community support. Reinstating these files would unlock new opportunities for mod developers, especially in Bedrock Edition, which already significantly differs from Java Edition in terms of modding capabilities.
I would greatly appreciate your attention to this request and the potential for further collaboration.
