Resin Coating

Players should be able to coat their armor with resin to harden it. It allows for early game versions of Unbreaking and Absorption, while also giving incentive to continuously return to the pale garden. However, the coating would wear off, probably with similar code to how phantoms spawn. It also damages and cracks over time, which makes the effect of the damage absorption not work as well. While I do admit this isn't really balanced, if implemented with features like making the Creaking run faster than the player, and decreasing other mob spawns in the garden, it still gives enough of a challenge to the player to make it a fair addition to the game, especially since players have to worry about multiple Creakings to look at.

    The problem with this idea is that resin is much easier to get than you might assume. Is true that this might be balanced if players go to the pale gardens every time they want resin. But most players will go to the pale gardens once and grab just one heart of resin, then a bunch of wood and saplings. This is possible to do without even letting the sun set (assuming your lucky), then they go back to base and create a safe environment and place the heart there. Now you get infinite resin without any danger.

    I would suggest you make coating an item in resin a less powerful option, like perhaps instead of making your amor more durable it reduces knock back, but it breaks vary fast. This would be useful but not so useful that it's overpowered.

    If you coat all your armor in resin then won't everybody's armor look the same? It would kinda ruin the point or armor trims and all personalization.

    how to fix this: simply make it so you surround your armor in resin peices in a crafting table
