I think that the Pale Garden should have a unique cave biome beneath it. Whether or not this is always under every pale garden or just sometimes, I feel like it doesn’t make sense to have such an eerie environment with regular caves beneath it. The Blighted Caverns could be a new sort of cave biome spawning exclusively under Pale Gardens, with Pale Stone and calcite, suggested by a comment of the original of the original post (or any other name or variety of cave blocks). This would also expand the block palette of the white blocks introduced in the pale garden. One issue I see with this is mobs, whether or not regular mobs spawn or not. This would kind of break the immersion, as with the regular mobs spawning in the pale garden, but probably doesn’t matter too much. Another possibility is a new mob. The Creaking is spawned and modelled after a tree. What about a kind of stone equivalent for this? I feel like an idea like this doesn’t really have a downside, as even if a player really dislikes it, it can be avoided so easily. The Blighted Caverns could also serve as a ‘scarier’ caving experience, with old Minecraft fog (!). It would also pave the way for more new cave biomes over the next few updates. I think that the Blighted Caverns would be a great addition to Minecraft, the Pale Gardens and the Winter Drop in general.
