I am loving the pale garden, and while I have some ideas for how it could be better (I'll put those in another topic), one really big point that deserves its own post is that there isn't really a purpose to the creaking right now.
I would love to see the creaking attack other mobs when placed by a player, or at the very least ignore the player who placed them. As it is right now, why would I ever go into the pale garden at night to brave the creaking? Why not just go during the day, cut down all the trees, then wait till night for the flowers?
Even if I did go at night and brave the forest, collecting creaking hearts, what can I even do with them? They will just end up taking up space.
So, to give an idea of what could be done:
The creaking could attack mobs or ignore the player when player-placed, but this is maybe a bit too strong, so instead!
The creaking heart could be used to make a 'wood golem' (imagine like a cute scarecrow! fall! :D) which would behave just like the creaking except it would target mobs, it would have a very small health bar which when exhausted would cause it to simply 'cool down' like the trial spawners. When it was cooling down, it could freeze like the creaking when it is looked at, or it could disappear and return to its own anchor block. This would ensure that it wasn't too powerful, but would give a really cool, unique mechanic.
This is just one idea of what could be done, but overall my hope is that there will be some point to the creaking hearts.
