Having Other Gems Like Ruby, Sapphire, Pearl, And Opal In The Game

Having More Gems For Your Collection, Plus More Different Armor And Weapons Of Each Gem. Like Having Sapphire Armor And Weapons. Opal Would Be Colorful And Like The Netherite, A Challenge To Find. Same For The Pearl In The Ocean Biomes.

I'm curious what these gems would do. What purpose would they serve within the game? Diamond and netherite are already quite powerful. Would these be stronger? Would they be sidegrades (having upsides and downsides over existing materials but being roughly equal in power)? Would they simply be a new building block? I don't see the vision, this seems like an emerald armor post.
