We already have the ability to break the bounce by holding jump.
It was considered "Working as Intended" when it was first reported as a bug, but in the process of fixing another bug, this feature got patched instead of the bug.
Not only was it unnecessary, it also caused negative reactions among the parkour community as there are some useful techniques revolving around pressing sneak on slimes.
We've noticed that the bug report was marked as "Worked as Intended", but a few days ago it was changed to "Unresolved" then was fixed right after.
Maybe the slime blocks can absorb 80% fall damage when falling onto it with shift, instead of fully removing the damage.
