I honestly have no problem with keeping xp levels when you die, but I do think that I would want to have a mode where I can turn off keep inventory, but if it is default on, I have no problem with that.

make keep inventory not a cheat but DO NOT force it on peaceful/easy

I feel you should not force add it but make it like java where you dont need cheets to add keepinvintory wich still allows players to play on peaceful or easy but want the risk to lose it all

Make keepinvintory not need cheets to activate by puting it at the exact same play as activate cheets

It is great for new players, but it should be an option.

This is pretty bad ngl. It should be kept as a gamerule so you can turn it on and off even if youre on easy and peaceful but just set it to true by default, and make keepinventory not a cheat so you can get advancements still.

Wouldn't it be better for everyone if this was just a toggle you could do during world generation? Like the bonus chest? Its interesting that youre playing with it, and could be a change for the better. But probably not in the current form.

I believe that you should be able to turn on Keep Inventory without being penalized but only on peaceful mode. And still have the option to be turned on or off. Any other difficulty I would consider this gamerule to be a cheat.

This could be good for new players but they could just enable and disable Keepinventory.

Making keep inventory on peaceful and easy completely destroys the point of survival mode on those difficulties, I play on those difficulties not because I don't wanna die but because phantoms and mobs overtime get really annoying. keep it as a separate option you can turn it on if you want it and leave it off if you don't it was fine the way it was. I like the idea of changing the way difficulties work, but entirely removing the point of survival mode isn't really the best way to go. Just make it a separate option that doesn't require cheats when you're on those difficulties, please don't make it default. To most players it feels just as cheaty as going into creative mode.

Maybe you should add a feature that if you die (in easy mod) you keep your hotbar only, and hardcore and hard mod should be definately made more challenging by implementing better mob AI

Great feature tbh, i'd make it so that there is a toggle option to turn it on/off. Having keep inventory not being a cheat anymore is amazing because alot of people play with it

What they should have done is make it so Keep inventory is no longer addressed as a cheat, just an option to turn on and off

I’ve always seen it as stupid to have keepinventory as a cheat. I think it should be in the same tier as show coordinates. I get creative mode breaking achievements, but a feature I’d consider an accessibility thing shouldn’t bar you from gaining progress. A like comparison is Celeste’s assist mode. I personally don’t feel any shame in not wanting to have to trudge 15 miles to pick up my stuff. What I do want is a penalty. EXP might be a good reason to keep yourself alive? Keepinventory hurts because you’re screwed either way. If you turn it on, you lose achievements and don’t have any penalty for death. If you turn it off, you can’t turn it back on without “cheating” and you have to fetch your stuff.

I do not think it should be added like this. Example: you are making a mob-grinder and you forgot to take out the torch, but if you do so a lot of mobs will spawn and will most likely kill you. So you turn on peaceful for a second to take out the torch ang go back to hard mode or whatever. But clumsy me fell into lava and what i didn't lose my items because it turned on keepinventory automatically. If you want to make it easier for newer people change the place where the option is turned on when creating a world.

I feel like this is a step in the right direction but don't make keep inventory count as a cheat have it by on as default in the easier difficulties and give players a prompt of what keep inventory is and whether or not they want it on. Another thing you can do with inventories is keeping some items in your inventory like tools, food, recovery compass, armor, etc and have players lose anything else that's not a necessity basically.

I feel like this is something that could be added to peaceful mode. But not for easy. Because peaceful is made for people who want to just play, without any risk involved, while easy is (imo) more for beginners trying to get a feel for the game. Setting KeepInventory to true removes a big part of the game and removes all risk involved.

If this does go through, I would at least like to see hard mode getting buffed.

Just remove keep inventory from the cheats tab and move it to the normal game settings when creating a world.

Honestly a good compromise would be to suggest enabling that rule if you're on easy and peaceful (like a popup saying "You've selected this difficulty, do you want to enable that rule?"). It could also say that enabling keep inventory disable achievements or say it's not how minecraft was designed in the first place or whatever I don't really mind that on my end. But give the player a choice instead of forcing it?

I think the best way to reduce the frustration of dying is to keep the hotbar but drop the rest of the items. Alternatively, a tombstone or a backpack could be used to store the player's inventory. This proposal shows that the hotbar represents what the player is holding in their hands, while the rest is stored in their pockets.

Look, I know programmers need to do continuous work to get paid, but please, do some actual creative work and stop messing with things that are perfectly fine just to claim you've done work and justify a paycheck.

Forcing certain settings on certain difficulties is an absolute horrid idea. Isn't Minecraft all about customization and your own adventure? Pretty strange way to address that vision if you ask me. If you are really concerned about new players, simply make the "Keep Inventory"-option more accessible and easier to spot so people can decide for themselves. Or even better, don't make it a cheat in the first place if you're iffy with disabling achievements.

I think you guys are forgetting an absolute cornerstone of anything to do with programming: If it's not broken, don't fix it. So please, just stop. Your work hours are *much* better spent elsewhere, for example thinking of better things than a desaturated dark oak forest and a laughably weak weeping angel knockoff that doesn't even drop anything and gets boring after the first 5 minutes.

Don't force this on easily and peacefully.

Instead, an accessibility/gameplay modifiers option should pop up when easy or peaceful is selected (heck just leave it there for all options). That menu lets people decide which helpful features they might want when they first play. Like even if they don't use it the first time they create a world. They would be more aware of the features they can enable when they are struggling with certain features of the game and they might check out that option after some time and then decide for themselves if they want to keep inventory or other types of game rules they want.

This is a sand box game and thus it should not decide for the players, but be well designed that the players can choose for themselves to get the most fun out of it.

I think this change is completely unnecessary, the option to enable keep inventory is already easily useable, please stop making changes for literal children there's a very big audience of this game that has higher cognition than a grape.

i think it would be better to increase the time items take to despawn, drop half/quarter xp on easy/peaceful.

ex: easy ~7-10 min, peaceful ~10-15 min.

also dying item spread smaller radius.

i think the fact that in java you can do what you want. in bedrock the reason why it's considered a "cheat" is because of the gamerscore system (ya get points for achievements). so it limits what you can do, and your creativity if you have to be stuck to a set of predefined rules. so i think its a great idea, as an option, not being attached to difficulty

"Why not do it like this:

In 'Easy' mode, you keep everything in your hotbar but lose everything else. Some achievements, like 'Kill X monsters,' are disabled. In 'Peaceful' mode, all achievements are disabled, and you keep your entire inventory.

Alternatively, a popup could appear when starting a new map in 'Easy' or 'Peaceful' mode, informing the player that achievements will be disabled if they choose to enable 'Keep Inventory.'

For players who already have a world in 'Easy' or 'Peaceful' mode, they can select the 'Keep Inventory' option in the world editing screen. A popup will notify them: 'If you enable this feature, you will no longer be able to earn achievements.' This setting cannot be changed within the world and must be adjusted in the world editing screen.

Players who already have an 'Easy' or 'Peaceful' world before this update would still follow the old rules until they make the changes as described."

Players that already have a world on easy/peaceful can select on the world preview where you edit your world "to keep inventory" a pop up appears and tells the player "if you enable this feature you wont be able to get achievements"
This can not be changed within the world and has to be changed inside the world edit screen or however its called.

Players that already have a easy/peaceful world still have the rules before this "update" and need to change it like i said before.

I think this is a great idea. I'm not sure what's so bad about this. If you're really worried about this then play in normal mode. It's why there's a difficulty anyway. It just feels like the people who actually don't like this are just disliking change.

One of the main issues lots of people have with minecraft is going far out and losing everything and never finding their stuff again. It doesn't make the game harder it makes the game annoying and unless you are an adventurous risky player you wont like this.

What if you have a server on easy mode and someone puts a curse of binding pumpkin on your head?
