When a Creaking is rooted in place while you are looking at it, you can simply dig a 2-block deep hole underneath it and trap it, completely cheesing the point of the mob. To solve this, any block that it is ‘rooted’ to (block or blocks directly underneath its hitbox) should be unbreakable.
Alternatively, have the Creaking inflict Mining Fatigue on the player for a short amount of time if it hits them (this could be explained as the Creaking leeching the strength out of the player, and rendering it much more threatening without being overpowered).
