The Creaking being an exclusively hostile "scary" mob doesn't feel like it fits well with the idea of having an option to kindly interact with your environment or avoid conflict that the game seems to have been turning towards the past few years.
You don't get anything valuable from killing an endangered panda or armadillo. You cannot tame and ride a dolphin. But the "monster" whose home you're ransacking deserves nothing but to have its "heart" torn out for trying to defend that home. We as players are encouraged to build beautiful or clever things and explore the word given to us, but in select places we are instead told to break in and be violent - the End, the Deep Dark, and now the Pale Garden are stark examples of this.
I'm suggesting adding a peaceful option when it comes to interacting with the new Creaking mob. Something like giving them saplings to pacify them for a time/trade with them similar to piglin bartering would be an example. With Minecraft's support of conservation (by adding endangered animals and refusing to reward the player for killing them), a way that at least superficially highlights that a cooperative relationship with a "forest spirit" and responsible forestry are possible would fit right in.
