I came up with an item idea that adds extra uses to Echo Shards and Beacons: the Echo Beacon.
This item could be crafted by placing a Beacon in the center of a crafting table and surrounding it with 8 echo shards.
Once placed, the new Echo Beacon could be powered by inserting a block into it (much like current beacons take minerals). Once powered, it would change the surrounding area (64x64 blocks maybe) to match the biome of the block used to power it. For example, powering the Echo Beacon with a grass block would turn the nearby area into an artificial Plains biome, sculk would create a Deep Dark, and sand could create a desert. (If possible, allow them to be used in the Nether and End so any biome could exist in any dimension.)
These artificial biomes would exist as long as the Echo Beacon is powered. They'd change the plant colors, mob spawns, weather patterns, and music accordingly. Once the beacon is removed, the biomes would return to default one.
This item would be useful for allowing the player to create custom environments or allowing a big project not to be hindered by crossing into an inconvenient biome.
I don't mind the villager rebalance changes, but I know others do. This item could allow advanced players to use their excess resources to create their desired villagers easier.
