Please add back the F3+F render distance shortcut

Although this isn’t a major deal, I feel this feature was somewhat significant and actually practical in terms of performance. Basically, it allowed you to directly change your render distance on the fly without having to open the game menu, thus saving a bit of time. I hardly used it myself but now I realize how handy it was. But for some reason, with no explanation of any sort, it was removed from 1.19 and that actually bothers me as the feature didn’t hurt anything (aside from speedrunners taking advantage of it) and opened up some accessibility. Even if your computer is fairly competent to run Minecraft, dragging the render distance slider might be annoyingly laggy, and it’s a shame this was unnecessarily removed without good reason at all. Since this was going around my head for a while now, I might as well suggest that it be brought back, either as the original shortcuts or in the form of customizable controls. Although there are mods that can bring this feature back, it does not hurt at all to keep the feature in the vanilla game as-is. After all, accessibility and performance are important, right? Hopefully it will be added back :)

    this is a big deal for speedrunning, please mojang, please add it back. Why remove a feature that was actively being used. The mods that are supposed to "add this functionality back" are not working too. Take BetterF3 for example, F3+F does change the render distance but not actually load new chunks, until we go to settings and press escape (probably because of a event firing when we escape out of minecraft options) that the mod makers missed. The point is, add it back, i beg u

    Very late, but I thought about what you said, and I think I remember experiencing the same thing when I used BetterF3 in 1.19 (and maybe even 1.20.4?) on servers. F3+F technically changed the render distance but never actually updated until I opened the game menu and escaped. I also just discovered that F3+F had existed for over a decade even before 1.9 but was temporarily removed in 1.7.2 when the render distance slider was changed to have more options. Knowing this makes its removal a bit more disappointing...

    This was a very handy shortcut to use in conjunction with the pie chart, as well as other f3 information! If you want to swiftly find out with f3 what chunk a certain entity/cluster of entities is in, you'll need to change your render distance between fairly similar values several times in quick succession, which is awkward and slow to do if you need to go back into video settings every time. 

     

    I have to be honest, I don't understand why this feature was removed. Even in regular gameplay, being able to quickly change render distances without having to open the video settings menu is very nice. I miss being able to do this.
