Sod is a real world product used in landscaping projects everywhere. It is sheets of grass with roots in a several centimeters or a few of inches of soil. I believe it would be a perfectly justified and very welcome addition to the game.
It could come in either slab form or layer form.
The sod layer would be a craft-able (trade-able?) transparent layer of grass much like layers of snow. This block would stack in layers of eight, with the added benefit of being able to create a smooth and spawn proof landscape .
The sod slab would be the same as the layer, with all the same benefits and procurement methods, but use-able as a top slab or bottom slab.
It could potentially be obtained through trading with a landscaping villager who might also trade bonemeal and specialty soils.
Each has its benefits. It would be wonderful to have both, but either one would be welcome.
