I want the capability to cover surfaces with a solid block texture, which would be easiest to add as paint or to the function to metal with the idea of plating surfaces.
A thin plate or paint that covers the entirety of a block and connects across blocks smoothly like the mechanics of glass panes or stairs but in all directions would be very useful. When plating or painting a block, it could keep the texture of the block underneath it or it could look like a solid texture/keep the metal textures. The thickness of the metal plate can be debated, although I do not think it should be too thin or thicker than a pressure plate. This would enable covering back room areas for red stone without using a whole block’s worth of space, or covering an interior wall to change it from the exterior without building a double wall.
We are in need of a new way to cover blocks without using too much space. Also, the smithing table needs more use, if applying to metal. For paint, we could mix dye and slime balls and a water bucket. Our current offerings of trap doors can cover space, but they are mostly see-through with limited colors and are chunky across blocks. With paint colors being as varied as dyes, and metal colors being clean and useful, I believe everyone would enjoy using these in builds.
