Gold is an amazing decorative resource with a very pleasing aesthetic, and absolutely deserves to have more options when it comes to building blocks and items. Copper has already shown that things such as tiles, grates, stairs and slabs can be done with other metals, and gold should be able to join it. Tiles and bricks would make for excellent additions to treasure chambers, both for the walls/floor but also to simulate a decorative "hoard" as its centerpiece. Gold grates, much like copper grates, could be useful as a window-alternative block. Walls, stairs and slabs would be greatly useful in Gold variants, both because of their unique yellow coloration, and because they would open up creative opportunities for builds that don't necessarily use gold as their central focus.
Similar decorative blocks for resources such as iron, netherite, emerald and diamond are obviously also worthy of consideration, but I feel that gold is an especially valuable opportunity. There aren't a lot of yellow or even yellow-adjacent half-blocks or decorative blocks, and allowing gold to take up that role would give a lot of additional value to a metal that is, otherwise, really under-represented in a game where gold tools and armor are near-useless, and gold itself is only really used for rails, clocks, and food items (with most of those being easily accessible without ever touching a gold ingot).
Gold deserves to be more than a low-value resource used only for apples and subpar piglin trades.
