Timed landings so you can nullify fall damage (at certain distances)

I think you should be able to nullify fall damage (at 6 or 5 blocks of distance max) by pressing spacebar when you're just about to land.

This would be great for hopping around to places when you're building or fighting mobs, making the process more fun, skill involved and less annoying.
