Durability/Block resistance increasing item

Some sort of item that can be obtained and you can coat blocks with it to make them more blast resistant and maybe slower breaking time, or can also be applied to tools and amour as a protective coating that will get broken first stopping the tools and amour from breaking until it is used up. I could see the working well as a new ore possibly in the nether or end or a late game loot. This would be valuable as you could use it to protect you builds from creeper expansion or player greifing. You could also use it to protect you tools late game, so instead of going to an overpowered farm that is not an intended mechanic players can use the item protecting there stuff and length if the time it takes for them to have to mend their tools/ amour again. This coul have a special block like smithing table that needs to be used to apply the coating to items or could just be applied directly to blocks by left clicking them, this could work like waking copper but can cover almost any block and if enough of it is used.
