Recently there was discussion on a villager trade rebalance that involved Mending books to be harder to get. Personally I don't think its necessary to trade for mending at all. I think Mending books should be exclusive to 4 specific structures: Desert Pyramids, Bastion Remnants, End Cities, and Ancient Cities. Now I'm sure this wouldn't be popular on its own, but I think that with some other changes It'd be good.
First off, if we make Mending almost completely exclusive to AC's (Ancient Cities,) we should let Swift Sneak less rare. Something that's never made sense to me is Swift Sneak only spawning in AC's. I get that the enchant relates to the challenge of the structure, but once youve gone to an AC, it becomes obsolete. Because of this, Swift Sneak should either move you faster or be accessible through enchanting/trade.
Secondly, a change that would make Mending simutaneously more rare and accessible would be an ability to duplicate enchanting books. I was thinking of doing this by putting an enchantment book in place of Lapis on a Enchant table. It could be balanced by costing 10+ full levels for each copy.
Anyways I think this would be better than what's currently in-game, but that's just me!

TL;DR: Make Mending exclusive to rare/end-game structures, increase accesibility to Swift Sneak, and add a way to duplicate enchantment books.
