New upgrade to shields to reintroduce Shields in late PvP

Since Shields are not really used in late PvP for the existence of Totems of Undying, and just for the sake of making PvP a little more suitable for your playstyle, I thought of upgrading the shield just like a Diamond Armor piece to a netherite one, you would need a “Shield blueprint” and a material to upgrade it. I thought of… Slime blocks. You heard me right (u actually read me but whatever) slime blocks and a blueprint in order to “upgrade” the shield to a bouncy shield, it would automatically accquire a slimy texture (like the shields with a banner design) and the attacks that you perform against someone holding defense with this shield would be that the damage bounces to you ( only once after you start shielding) this is just an idea, there could be many more variations, you can post your own shield upgrade idea , the main focus on this is to improve fun in combat and diversity.
