Simply put, there's a lot of things about the sky that we have absolutely no control over in making and customizing biomes with datapacks, and personally i would like more control.
Here's a list of sky options (with a little fog too) i'd like to see:
- "sunset_color" self explanatory
- "night_sky_color" and "night_fog_color" also self explanatory
- "rain_sky_color" and "storm_sky_color"
- "void_color" again, self explanatory
- "can_see_sun" a value between 0 and 1, with 0 being no sun at all and 1 being how it normally is,
- "can_see_moon" see point 3, but with the moon
- "cloud_intensity" see point 3, but with clouds
- "fog_blend_intensity" defaults to 1, higher numbers make the blending smoother, with more of the fog color going upwards, this could even allow for more realistic skies because there's always a more gradual transition between the sky looking straight up and the sky at the horizon
- "fog_depth" defaults to 1, higher numbers make the fog extend further into loaded chunks, so you could have a biome with extremely dense fog, or a biome with no fog at all
In conclusion, i think these tools could really make for a unique biome crafting experience, and allow for all sorts of fantastical and even realistic environments to be possible (not to mention potentially opening up the gates for y'all to get a little more creative with your skies)
