Enchantment Converter

I feel like gold armor and tools are fairly useless, the only thing that distinguishes them from other armors is that they have a high level of enchant ability so why not use it to it's advantage. I feel their should be some rare type of crafting station of sorts that converts enchantments of certain armors or weapons onto another set of armor or weapon. But to not make the enchantment of other armors and weapons useless this crafting station of sorts would have to be very rare or hard to craft (perhaps using a nether star to craft?). This thing could also maybe use some time of item to converts these enchants like lapis or another item you could find in structures (this would be another reason to explores ancient cities and trail chambers). This way Golden armor and tools will finally have a use. Just a rough idea but I think it has good bones.
