For mobile users, the user interface (UI) and graphical user interface (GUI) are well-designed. However, for console and PC users, Minecraft Bedrock feels very odd.
The UI seems to be made for touch screens, likely because it was. This results in buttons being larger and quite different from the Java edition home screen. In Java, the UI is designed with the mouse in mind, allowing for more detailed buttons.
To address this issue, I propose detecting the device on which the user is playing Minecraft Bedrock Edition and adjusting the UI accordingly. This would significantly improve the user experience for console and PC players. Java players might find the game more welcoming if they encountered a familiar UI, potentially aiding Microsoft's goal of eventually consolidating Java and Bedrock editions. Additionally, providing players with the option to toggle the UI settings would offer greater freedom and customization. By default, the UI could vary based on the device, with PCs having a more Java-like UI and consoles featuring a mix of Legacy and Bedrock UI elements.
Overall, this approach would help Bedrock shed its image as a cheap mobile version of Java, making all players feel welcome and valued regardless of their device.
