Beacons should have more minerals that it can be made out of.
First of all, Lapis Lazuli is a gemstone, just like Emeralds and Diamonds. It would make sense for them to have a beacon of their own. Second, there is Copper, a metal like Gold and Iron. It was added more recently, but a beacon didn't come with it. Third, there is Redstone. This one is more understandable, but would still be cool to see. Fourth would be Coal. I don't personally believe a beacon for this would make sense, but it could be cool to see in-game. Finally, there is Amethyst, another gemstone. Currently, Amethyst is pretty useless (more on this later), only being used for decoration or cosmetic purposes. Having some sort of beacon for it would be able to add a purpose for it.
Another cool thing that could be added for beacons would be Amethyst Crystals redirecting the beacon stream, and with this making it so that if a beacon is obstructed, the beam will still be powered until it reaches the block. Would be cool to see the top of the beacon acting as a focused light ray, being able to provide energy (a redstone signal).
