Minecarts and chunk loading

Minecarts shoikd load the chunks they are travelling too I built a minecart system for my mine to bring my mined items back to my house and drop it off in a chest, but it doesn’t work because of the chunks not being loaded. I have to walk back to make it work If I knew this I wouldn’t have spent all night making this system and just walk the diamonds back to the house instead. Make minecarts activate and load in the chunks they travel through
