Request to Continue Providing PDB Files in Future BDS Versions

Dear Mojang Studios,
 
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing on behalf of many in the Bedrock Dedicated Server community to express our concern regarding the removal of PDB files in the latest preview version (1.21.10). Historically, PDB files have been crucial for debugging and maintaining plugins loader that enhance the BDS experience. Their absence in future releases could have severe negative impacts on our community.
 
PDB files provide essential debugging information that allows developers to create and maintain plugins loader effectively. Without these files, updating and ensuring plugin compatibility with new BDS versions becomes exceedingly difficult, potentially leading to a decline in available custom plugins and tools.
 
A lot of bedrock servers rely on a wide range of plugins to offer unique experiences and manage server operations. The lack of PDB files hinders the ability to debug and update these plugins loader, which could result in server closures and negatively affect the player community.
 
While we understand the security concerns that may have led to this decision, we believe alternative measures can address these issues without compromising development needs.
 
We urge the BDS development team to reconsider the removal of PDB files. Maintaining these files is vital for the continued health and growth of the BDS community. We hope to finding a solution that addresses security while supporting development.

    PLEASE don't remove pdb files as they are now. Their existence is beneficial to everyone on bedrock.

    You know, when I first read this, I couldn't believe it. I was seeing things. I thought I was reading it wrong or simply didn’t comprehend what it was saying. But, after reading the others' comments, I was right; you have forgotten the statement you made. If I'm being honest here, it was more of a promise. A promise you decided to dedicate your entire game around. The same promise is the reason to this day your game is still the most and always will be the most played game. Since you have forgotten, let me remind you, Mojang. 12 years ago, you released Minecraft's first-ever trailer. Exactly at 0:06, you promised, “Where the only limit is your imagination.” “No one can tell you what you can or can’t do.” Getting rid of mods is capping our imagination, telling us what we can’t do.
    Mods allow us to have features we didn’t even think of. Mods allow players to express themselves in so many different ways. Mods allow us to change the game in ways you didn’t even know were possible. So, with all that said, just know you have been warned.     The PDB files are a great asset to the Minecraft Bedrock Edition community. It is a weapon against malicious actors trying to ruin the game experience of other users and also allows the community to express their creativity, wich compared to the current Bedrock Marketplace tools (wich are accesible to few) -are lacking in that regard.
