A very interesting part of minecraft has been squeezing complicated redstone into small spaces, and it's in minecraft's best interests listen to the community by giving them what they want. I propose a new minecraft redstone component:
a "Vertical Transistor"
This component will work similar to a comparator in the sense that you can toggle a switch on and off, and it will power redstone vertically, whether that be up or down. Whenever this component is powered from an adjacent side or the face that is toggled off (e.g, if the transistor is powered on, it will send signals through the top, and can be powered through the bottom, and vice versa) it will power the connected piece. Take a jukebox player for example. If you want to make it powered by daylight, that's a complicated process that requires a significant amount more redstone than would be practical. A simple solution would be adding this part, that can directly connect to a daylight sensor with very few steps involved. The crafting recipe would be something along the lines of this:
X S X
R Q R
X S X
Q = QUARTZ | S = STICK | R= REDSTONE | X = EMPTY SLOT
That's how your crafting recipes are formatted in the code, if a minecraft coding course I took 7 years ago remains accurate.
