Pirates And Steel is focused on making the Minecraft world more immersive by adding new content that is based on what we already have. It also aims to tweak a bit of the already existing content.
As the name of this update implies, Pirates play a big part in it. They are basically a reskin of Pillagers but only spawn on Pirate Ships and in Pirate Hideouts.
Pirate Ships, which have the same design and similar loot as Shipwrecks, usually spawn on open sea or in the harbour of the Pirate Hideout. Pirate Hideouts spawn on Tropical Islands. Tropical Islands spawn only in Warm Oceans and mainly offer beaches and Palm Trees. You can also discover Volcanoes on some, which are dangerous due to their lava therefor richer with all kinds of ores.
One big difference between Pirates and Pillagers is the possibility to barter with Pirates. Once you wear a Pirate Hat, they won’t attack you anymore thus you can offer them a Copper Ingot in exchange for a random item.
Monkeys are a new Neutral Mob that can be tamed with Coconuts and bred with Golden Coconuts.
Another implementation is Steel. To create Steel Ingots, you need to merge one Iron with a Copper Ingot at an Anvil in exchange for some of your collected experience. Steel equipment is better than one made of Iron yet worse than ones made of Diamonds. They have the best passive Projectile and Blast Projection, however.
Furthermore, TNT and Fletching Tables should be more useful.
