-There should be a new ore called gem ore, found almost as commonly as copper/iron. This ore gives gems of any color, including red, blue, brown, black, etc.
-Their main purpose is to be used for armor trimming. Why? Because using netherite just for lines on your armor is not okay.
-Gems can also be used instead of diamonds for replicating trimming templates. Why? Using diamonds to add lines to a full set of armor when you can craft a diamond set instead is not a good choice. The fashion points aren't worth it.
-Gems also have another use:
1 gem + 1 amethyst shard = 2 gems. (gem duplication)
9 gems = 1 gem block.
4 gem blocks = 1 gem cluster.
Heating 1 cluster in a furnace gives one diamond. So 36 gems = 1 diamond.
Endgame players would not often use this method due to the large amount required for one diamond, but it would be very promising for early players. This would give a good balance between players.
-Trimming templates could also be used to trim tools and weapons.
