Many people say that the elytra is too powerful. I believe this is not true. Instead, it is fireworks that are too powerful. Without the firework, elytras are just wings to glide around with. What you should do is make the default firework also deal explosion damage. This allows players to still use fireworks but get damaged in the process. A workaround for this is to use riptide tridents in rain. By following through with this change, you can increase the incentive to get riptide and not just have it be a small side thing. This will also make the elytra less powerful because you can only fly (not glide, fly) in the rain.
