Adding waypoints to Minecraft

I really want Mojang to add a waypoint system to Minecraft! This would allow me to actually explore the world and be able to mark cool places I have found with a waypoint! I would also be able to find my house easily after exploring the world for a long time! I know we have maps and compasses but those methods feel so clunky I wish we had a more up to date method. Hopefully Mojang could add this in the future that would be awesome!
