you see. the problem is Minecraft likes it when you travel but there is a small proportioning system that high level Minecrafters don't understand. Minecraft expects people to take the game slow rather than being a maniac and traveling 1000 blocks on the first 3 days. dog armor is able to withstand multiple powerful attacks in order to stop the wolf from dying but that is because players complained that the wolves died to easily while doing simple and not particularly dangerous activities. in other words, its great that wolves get that extra bit of protection, but that isn't an invitation to bring with with you to fight wardens or crazy stuff like that. also you can still use meat to heal dog's hp but it just layers in a balanced way. finally, dye is one of the cheapest items in game. if you aren't willing to put dye on armor that will break anyway, all the more power to you, but if you complain about it not being a worthwhile commitment that screams out the fact that you are either poor or live in a desert.

also the devs don't want to make the wolf armor have more durability because doing so would practically make you so powerful you almost have creative mode but without flying... oh wait... you have the elytra which is actually faster...

Hmm idk.... FIrst off this should be a feedback comment, but second I feel the scute being scarce makes you more careful, and the dyeing thing is just an extra thing that you don't have to touch but if you do you be careful ig? I do see what you mean with the dyeing thing (which is why I don't support armor trims) but idk It's easy to just save the color recipe.

A lot of people here are entirely missing the point. This is not a plea to remove durability from the current wolf armor, but an entire reversion back before the 24w09a snapshot. This would have very minor changes in the total durability of wolves in most instances, only changing how the wolf is revitalized after taking the damage. I never said that dyes or wolf scutes were prohibitively expensive, I don't know how people are even misreading that.

I do agree with you on this but the wolf nowadays has been a lot harder to kill. ( :
