There have been various submissions of similar nature to the one I am creating, but none have been comprehensive to this effect. (To my knowledge. I could very well be mistaken.)
There have been suggestions for workbench textures that reflect the wood type used, likewise with wooden tools, bookshelves, bows, campfires etc. But why stop there? Every block or item with a visible wooden texture where wood is concerned in its crafting recipe should have variant appearances reflecting the plank/stick/log used. There is plenty of concept art online for such a thing. It seems like a neat little feature that doesn't do too much to alter gameplay but provides a sense of synchrony between the recipes and the product. Not to mention, this adds a variety of alternatives to the builder's arsenal, allowing for more creative and fantastical builds with these seemingly minor quality-of-life features.
Let's keep going! Multicolored wooden items and blocks! Since you can craft things with different types of woods in the same recipe, why not have this mismatching of colors be visual? Does that seem like a heck-of-a-lot of textures? It doesn't need to be! The creative menu doesn't need to offer every single variation of item much like how it doesn't offer every single banner or firework combination. Perhaps just the monochromatic color options. (Spruce bookshelves, dark oak workbenches, etc)
What about titling for these multicolored items? "Mismatched wooden bookshelf".
