[I KNOW YOU HAVE TESTED THIS IDEA IN THE PAST AND REJECTED IT, BUT PLEASE LISTEN]
what i mean by this, is that going to all the effort of laying track for minecarts, they should be of equal speed, if not faster than endgame transportation, because:
-you would have to place down track continuously towards your destination
-rails are expensive! especially powered rails!
-it would promote creativity in transportation methods, instead of just elytra
I'm thinking that powered rails could accelerate your cart the more in a row your minecart goes over, (excluding turns, as those can't be powered) capping out at a speed near or above that of an elytra*, or something like that.
when mojang originally tested this idea, it would derail with enough speed, ruining many people's rollercoasters, and reverted it, but i think that perhaps you could change this mechanic, or try again now with the reach your announcements have. i think that minecarts should be able to go faster (as pointed out by a particular pink-and-orange java player), without derailing suddenly, which i think the acceleration mechanic would fix. since it would only apply to powered rails, you could put down normal rails in front to slow it down again.
hey, now that you're listening, powered rail glowiness should fade with how far away it is from the redstone source.
also, "pLz GiV CaPe!!1!"
*or maybe just nerf the elytra, make fireworks only stack to 16, etc.
