The soul forge acts like an upgrader. This will be used by fuelling it with soul lava, then placing the dragon egg on top. After an in game days, the dragon egg will become a glowing soul blue. Returning to end and performing the resurrection with the egg on the pedestal will summon, wait for it. A soul snake. Defeating it will reward you will soulful elytra which do not require fireworks. But are repaired using soul lava in a soul forge. Boom. Lore: The ancient builders wanted to defeat the wardens in some way, they searched until they found a blue lava, it unlike normal lava was hit enough to deal the warden damage, resulting in its death. The builders who became Endermen left before the remaining builders found this. They experimented and discovered the Soul Snake. They failed in defeating it, and it’s blue glow can still me found in the ancient cities. It resulted to becoming an energy to survive as we hear portal sounds in disc 5. The energy that keeps the mysterious portal shut, and the world in a constant state of unrest. Maybe when we defeat the Soul Snake it would release the ancient portal.
