When I go mining, I prefer to use a silk touch pickaxe. This leaves me with a lot of unwanted stone and deepslate by the end of my trips, and the idea of having to re-mine them to get their cobbled variants sounds like a grueling task. What I suggest here is the addition of a crusher block to mirror how a furnace smelts cobble into stone. Additional applications could include sandstone to sand, stonebricks into stone, clay into clay balls, and bricks into bricks.
