Spears - New Weapon

The spear is a theoretical new weapon that could change combat. A spear could be crafted from either: - A sword, shovel (same ore as sword) and stick - Combine 3 sticks to make a shaft. A shaft and an ode to make a spear The spear could function as a melee weapon with an extended reach. Dealing half the damage of a sword, it could reach 3 blocks further than a sword. With enchantments, that reach could be increased. The spear would take a dynamic new approach and would answer the question raised by players about how the crab claw would fit into combat. Another interesting aspect of a spear is that it could potentially be used simultaneously with a shield. Whilst crouching, the player could use the spear to attack at half the distance of a sword. This would require players to think up new approaches to combat when fighting against spear-wielding enemies. Spears could be crafted from the same ore types as current weapons.
