I think it’s time we reevaluate the intended value and scarcity of materials in Minecraft. We are at a point where sand now holds great in game value due to it being a completely finite material, whereas “precious” materials such as gold and emerald are infinitely renewable. Even enchanted diamond gear is infinitely renewable, leaving little value and use for the already overly abundant diamond ore.
This is obviously quite backwards, and undermines the whole concept of having precious materials like gold and emerald and diamonds in the first place. I think precious materials should be treated as a strictly finite resource, whereas more common materials like sand, rooted dirt, coarse dirt, etc. should be much more readily renewable.
