With the addition of the Breeze in the upcoming 1.21 update, I believe that it only makes sense for future elemental-type mobs like an earth or water blaze variant to make their way into the game in the coming years. I also believe that one mob that already exists in Minecraft could be updated to take that role— the guardian. This new guardian, which I would call the brine or perhaps the bubble to math the B alliteration of the Blaze and the Breeze, would drop brine rods which in conjunction with the 1.21 vault blocks (which could have a 5-7.5% chance to drop trident prongs in updated ocean monuments) could be crafted to form the trident. Brine rods could also be crafted into brine charges which would act similarly to guardian charges, allowing for precise long range combat with the drawback of reduced damage compared to the bow or crossbow, also as a charge item it would not be able to be enchanted. Where does the elder guardian fit into this new ocean monument overhaul? I don’t know, but in the 2017 mob vote we saw the hovering inferno which looked like a blaze mini-boss variant. In a perfect world I would argue that every elemental could get a mini-boss variant, but I believe the precedent for changing mobs to fit within a changing art direction already exists with the creation of the piglins in 1.16 which overhauled the visual design of zombie pigmen while also expanding functionality and worldbuidling. I think it can be done for the guardian and ocean monuments too.
